No. 1 subway is tops!
The No. 1 train was ranked as the city’s best subway line, according to a report issued by the NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign.
The tenth annual “State of the Subways” report card gave each of the city’s 22 subway lines a “MetroCard Rating” between $0 and $2. The report concentrated on six measures of service—the amount of scheduled service and the regularity of train arrivals’ mechanical failures of subway cars; change of getting a seat at the most congested point; cleanliness of subway car floors and seats; and adequacy of announcements.
With a MetroCard rating of $1.30, the No. 1 train took first palace, while the C and the W trains tied for last place, with a rating of 65 cents.
The No. 1 train’s top ranking is a first for that line in the subway report card’s history. Propelled by frequent service, reliable arrivals, cleaner cars and better announcements, the No. 1 ousted the No. 6 train, which took the top spot last year.
Overall, the cleanliness of cars climbed to 87% from 79% last year. Subway cars, however, broke down more frequently than a year earlier.
Facade Improvement Program.
The Kingsbridge BID has developed a program, for retailers or property owners to upgrade their storefronts and signage by providing funds to subsidize a portion of the cost of the improvement up to a maximum of $500 per storefront. read more...
Our prime mission is to attract both consumers and businesses to the Kingsbridge District. As part of that objective we have
worked on street cleanliness, seasonal decoration, themed lighting, commercial business compliance on matters of
"curb" appeal, consumer foot traffic safety, improved parking accessibility and the removal of exterior wall graffiti.
We have been formed to provide extra needed services to the Business community. The services are to supplement
those already provided by the city to every taxpayer.
